Hillary Nicholson
Biography
Hillary Nicholson (Singing) has sung over fifty operatic roles, including Carmen, Dorabella (Cosà fan tutte), Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), Maddalena (Rigoletto), Mistress Quickly (Falstaff), Emilia (Otello), Hansel, Suzuki (Madama Butterfly) and Orfeo with such noted companies as Cleveland Opera, Sacramento Opera and the Metropolitan in New York City. She has also sung principal roles in opera, operetta and musical theater with the Kansas City Lyric, Kentucky, Tampa Bay, Dayton, Chattanooga, Skylight, Cleveland Lyric, Memphis, and Ocean State Lyric Opera Companies. As a concert soloist, she has sung with the Symphony Orchestras of Detroit, St. Louis, Rochester, Tucson, New Bedford (MA) and Chattanooga, the Lake Placid Sinfonietta and the Britt, Bravo Vail Valley and Newport Music Festivals. She has been a voice instructor at Providence College, where she also taught and directed for the Opera/Musical Theatre Workshop, and has given master classes in voice and opera for Brown University, Brown Opera Productions, Rhode Island College, and the RI chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. She currently maintains a private voice studio in Cranston, RI.
