Jude Sandy

Biography

Jude Sandy (Movement Embodiment Practice) is a member of the resident acting company at Trinity Repertory Company, and is a graduate of Brown/Trinity Rep (M.F.A., Acting) and Brown University (A.B., Africana Studies/Theatre Arts). As a movement and dance artist, Jude has collaborated on physically-driven off-Broadway, off-off-Broadway and regional theater productions, coached professional and student actors, created works for college and high school programs, and choreographed for numerous Trinity Rep productions. An alumnus of American Dance Festival, he has taught master repertory for American Dance Legacy Initiative and performed with companies in Providence and New York City. For two years Jude puppeteered the title role in the original Broadway production of War Horse at Lincoln Center Theater. He has toured North America, performed regionally at the Guthrie Theater, Shakespeare Theatre Company and others, and served as movement and assistant director for productions at Cleveland Play House. He has also served on the theater faculty at Connecticut College, been a guest teacher/artist at Boston University, Boston Conservatory/Berklee College of Music and Mount Holyoke College, and is cofounder of Denizen Arts: a multidisciplinary, African diaspora based collaboration with dance/performance artist and scholar, yon Tande.
